One day after the airline Allegiant announced new flights between Sarasota Bradenton International Airport and Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh, Elite Airways announced that is scrapping plans to offer flights between Sarasota and Pittsburgh. Elite Airways had intended to begin flights to Pittsburgh in late February. “Elite Airways believes in the Sarasota-Bradenton market and is looking at other destinations to supplement our existing routes," said Elite Airways president John Pearsall, according to a press release. The company promised to refund passengers who had already purchased tickets for the Pittsburgh flights, and will continue flying between Sarasota and Portland, Maine, and White Plains, New York.
